Mikkeli Music Festival: Young Strength: Concert of the Academies of Musical Instruments

Program Info: At the concert of the instrument academies, Finland's most talented young people who are studying to play in a goal-oriented manner get to show their skills!
The Brass Academy's Music for the screen programme features game and film music by composers John Williams , Enrio Morricone , Yasudori Mitsuda and Kori Kondo . The concert will be conducted by conductor and horn player Petri Komulainen ,
The Brass Academy is a brass ensemble of talented young people, which has selected young talents from all over Finland who are interested in music and aim to become professional musicians. Young people from South Savo will also be heard, e.g. heirs of the Rantasalmi wind orchestra activities. The Brass Academy has previously given concerts at several festivals in Finland, including Lahti, Lieksa's Brass Week and Riihimäki's summer concerts.
The first half of the concert will feature piano works by the astonishingly talented young players of the Youth Piano Academy . About ten future stars aged 12–19 study at the Youth Piano Academy every year. During the teaching periods organised since 2013, in addition to the best in Finland, international pianists such as Sir András Schiff , Marc-André Hamelin , Robert Levin and Emanuel Krasovsky have acted as teachers. The students of the Piano Academy have been awarded in numerous piano competitions. They include alumni Tarmo Peltokoski , Ossi Tanner , Vilina Rainisto and Maximilian Fagerlund .
