Program Info: The VSO School of Music presents Summer Strings at the Playhouse
The VSO School of Music’s five String Ensembles present an evening of great music at the Vancouver Playhouse. The concert showcases the VSO School of Music’s advanced ensemble Sinfonietta, as well as youth string orchestras Intermezzo, Concertante & Preludio, and adult ensemble Camerata.
Join VSOSoM for an evening of classical masterpieces and beloved cinematic favourites. Experience the excitement of The Incredibles, the sweeping drama of Ennio Morricone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Cinema Paradiso, the lively spirit of Aaron Copland’s Hoe-down and the thrilling tangos by Astor Piazzolla. Future of Excellence winner Yuki Kirikae will take centre stage as the featured soloist in Bach’s Piano Concerto no. 5 and the night will be capped off with over 100 musicians on stage as all five ensembles and our adult violin classes unite for the finale, the Chorale from Bach’s Anna Magdalena Notebook.
