13 September 2026 Kaohsiung (Taiwan)
Jun Märkl, Paul Huang & NSO
Taiwan Philharmonic - National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying)
Program Info: Throughout history, numerous previously-overlooked musical works have stood the test of time to be ultimately recognized as masterpieces. A perfect example is Austrian composer Erich Wolfgang KORNGOLD's Violin Concerto in D Major. Paul HUANG will bring to life this unique fusion of classic Romanticism and Hollywood glamour with tender melodies and profound emotional depth.
Based on SHAKESPEARE's play of the same name, Russian composer Sergei PROKOFIEV's suite based on his ballet, Romeo and Juliet, has become iconic of the 20th-century since its 1938 premiere. Fueled by dramatic tension, this monumental piece paints a vivid portrait of eternal love. For the season opening concert of the NSO, Music Director Jun MÄRKL leads the orchestra in a brilliant interpretation of these legendary works. A gilded soirée for the heart, a memory to be etched forever in the soul.
Erich Wolfgang Korngold: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, the concerto has themes from the scores for the movies ANOTHER DAWN (1937), ANTHONY ADVERSE (1936) & THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER (1937) Sergei Prokofiev: Excerpts from Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 1 & No.
