Piano Festival 2026: Nosferatu – Improvisation to silent film
Jean-Baptiste Doulcet, piano - Helsingborgs Konserthus

Program Info:
During the silent film era, the pianist was a natural part of the film experience – a co-creator who in the moment gave life to the images on the screen. During this evening, pianist Jean-Baptiste Doulcet takes on one of the most iconic classics in film history through real-time improvisation.

For Nosferatu (1922), directed by F. W. Murnau, he creates a vivid musical landscape that enhances the darkness, nerve and dreamlike moods of the film. The groundbreaking horror film, loosely based on Dracula, is considered one of the foremost works of German expressionism, in which light, shadows and set design play the main roles in the story.

Join us for a suggestive movie night where music and images meet at the same moment as it happens.
