Classic Open Ait
Orchestra conducted by Christoph-Matthias Müller - Theater St. Gallen, Theatervorplatz

Program Info:
Switzerland can not only boast a breathtaking Alpine panorama, but also a small but all the more refined composer scene. In the 1940s and 1950s in particular, the musical landscape in Switzerland flourished with renowned composers such as Arthur Honegger, Rolf Liebermann and Otmar Nussio, all of whom had international careers.
Swiss nature and folklore in particular served as a source of inspiration for these composers' works, which are both artistic and accessible. As a result, artists from other countries also devoted themselves to this topic, such as Ernst Fischer, who celebrated his compositional breakthrough with his suite South of the Alps .

Arthur Honegger: Napoléon, music from the 1927 movie by director Abel Gance
Rolf Liebermann: Suite on six Swiss folk songs
Otmar Nussio: Ticino dance,
Folklore d’Engadina
Ernst Fischer: South of the Alps
