This program offers a journey through the history of American film music. From the pioneers of Hollywood symphonism such as Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Max Steiner and Miklós Rózsa — authors of memorable scores for The Adventures of Robin Hood, Gone with the Wind and Ben-Hur — to their heirs. After a more discreet passage in the middle of the twentieth century and century, this great orchestral style regained all its power with John Williams and his music that became mythical for Jaws, Star Wars or Indiana Jones. In his wake, composers such as James Horner and Hans Zimmer continued this epic legacy that continues to thrill cinema.
Program: Erich Wolfgang Korngold - The Adventures of Robin Hood Max Steiner - Gone with the Wind, continued Miklós Rózsa - Ben-Hur suite James Horner - The Mask of Zorro, suite Klaus Badelt / Hans Zimmer - Pirates of the Caribbean John Williams - The Adventures of Indiana Jones
