Say it through the flower
The ox, this ox, wakes up in his castle. The Marschallin, this kind being, dreams back to her girlhood, when she met the Field Marshal for the first time. And he? In the midst of the turmoil of battle, he thinks of the Marschallin with a hot heart... The silent film by "Caligari" director Robert Wiene about the "Rosenavalier" from 1926 brings some surprises to the screen. We all know Hugo von Hofmannsthal's and Richard Strauss's most popular stage work. The film, however, offers exciting, new perspectives, indeed Hofmannsthal expanded the story, introduced scenes and characters that are at most mentioned in the opera. Be part of this unique famous love story and sequel and enjoy the immortal music of Richard Strauss, presented in a tailor-made salon version for the courtly ambience: transparent, sometimes behind veils, sometimes relentlessly open. Because "time, it's a strange thing". Yes, everything – youth and old age – has its time – and its wonderful moments.

Der Rosenkavalier, accompaniment to the film of the same name by Robert Wiene, version for salon orchestra by the composer (re-edited by Thomas Kemp and John Langley, 2017) (1926)
