Festival du Cinéma muet d'Anères: Iron fist and the escape of the convict of Croze
Virgile Golle, accordeon - Festival d'Anères location
Program Info: Iron fist and the escape of the convict of Croze by Léonce Perret with Émile Keppens, Léonce Perret, Louis Leubas 1912 / France / 0h53 / DCP Copy: Gaumont Pathé Archives
Escaped from the penal colony, the leader of the white-gloved gang returns to service with his apaches. Inspector Necker, flanked by his two loyal agents, sets out on their heels, from Paris to the Côte d'Azur...
At Gaumont since 1910, Léonce Perret tried his hand at detective drama with a series of three episodes, which confront Inspector Necker, known as the Iron Hand, with dangerous criminals, played by Perret himself, in tailings that each time linked Paris to the Côte d'Azur. Léonce Perret deploys his audacity in directing, particularly in the use of the triple screen or in images shot outdoors, magnified by his director of photography Georges Specht.
In the police drama, Léonce Perret was incomparable. The Iron Fist series is still fresh in everyone's memory. As these extraordinary and terrifying adventures unfolded on the screen, the room shuddered with fear. Cinémagazine, 1924 – n° 46, 14 November 1924
