Program Info: On May 21, 2026, the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall will host a series of exclusive concerts "Riverside Music Live": French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet will play on our stage for the first time.
Exceptional musicality and sensitive approach to both contemporary and classical repertoire earned Jean-Yves Thibaudet the title of one of the world's most famous pianists. He is valued not only for his mastery on stage, but also for his broad creative interests – he actively collaborates with film makers, fashion designers and representatives of the visual arts. Thibaudet is the first artist in residence at the Colburn School (Los Angeles, USA), and several scholarships have been established in his name.
Among the most prominent events, tours and concerts of this season is a series of concerts that has been going on for several years, featuring both volumes of Claude Debussy's Preludes. The pianist will also perform this program in Vilnius.
Thibaudet is an extremely prolific artist – his discography includes more than 70 albums and 6 film soundtracks. His recordings have earned him two Grammy nominations, two ECHO Awards, as well as the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, Diapason d'Or, CHOC du Monde de la Musique, Edison and Gramophone prizes. Among his most recent recordings are "Khachaturian", dedicated to the Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, which includes a piano concerto and several solo works, and "Gershwin Rhapsody", recorded with Michael Feinstein and supplemented by four recently discovered works by George Gershwin.
The pianist also performs a soundtrack composed by Dario Marianelli for the film "Pride and Superstition", which was awarded the RIAA Gold Award in 2025. His piano can also be heard in other films, including "Atonement" (comp. D. Marianelli), "The French Dispatch" and "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" (comp. Alexandre Desplat) and Wakefield (comp. Aaron Zigman). Thibaudet's concert costumes were designed by legendary designer Vivienne Westwood.
