The string quintet of the Composers Soundtracks Festival will perform the original score live during the film screening. From June 4–6, the festival brings composers, filmmakers, and the public together to celebrate the art of music and film.
About the film Central do Brasil , Walter Salles' second feature film from 1998, is a moving road movie through a fractured Brazil. The unexpected friendship between the weary, retired teacher Dora and nine-year-old Josué, who sets out to find his father after his mother's death, forms the heart of the story. Salles depicts a harsh, individualistic world, including in the chaotic Rio train station, where Dora writes letters for illiterates without posting them. The film was a major success, winning the Golden Bear and a Golden Globe, among others, and receiving two Oscar nominations, with strong performances from star Fernanda Montenegro and Vinícius de Oliveira.
