Around Joe Hisaishi
Maki Namekawa, piano - Philharmonie de Paris, Grande salle Pierre Boulez
Program Info: A passionate interpreter of Philip Glass, an inspired smuggler of contemporary music with strong affinities with the seventh art or jazz, Maki Namekawa places the creation of Sonate Joe Hisaishi's Sonata in a program that combines piano, concert and cinema.
A familiar face at the Philharmonie de Paris, which has already hosted her in recital or with Thomas Enhco, Maki Namekawa is at the heart of her repertoire: the music of Joe Hisaishi, in its strong link with Hayao Miyazaki's animated films, but also with his Sonata , of which she gives the French premiere here, in the presence of the composer. But also two of his compatriots: Ryūichi Sakamoto, Oscar for Best Music for The Last Emperor , and Toru Takemitsu, who composed for Hiroshi Teshigahara. Like him, Philip Glass moved from the concert stage to the cinema. The latter's work is the favourite playground of Maki Namekawa, the first to record the complete Études and to perform her Sonata in France at the Philharmonie in 2022 Sonate.
Program Artworks by Joe Hisaishi, Philip Glass, Akira Ifukube, Ryūichi Sakamoto and Toru Takemitsu
