¡Que viva México! Sergei Eisenstein film, Mexico, 1931
Experts in the delicate art of the cine-concert, the very adventurous Parisian group NLF3 deploys all its mastery with ¡Que Viva Mexico! , Sergei Eisenstein's legendary film, to which he gives a striking relief thanks to a high-flying musical creation.
Born in the year 2000, on the initiative of brothers Nicolas and Fabrice Laureau (ex-Prohibition), NLF3 develops an instrumental language that is as shimmering as it is singular. Oscillating mainly between post-rock and electronic, their music – resolutely travelling and adventurous – is sometimes tinged with other colours from elsewhere, for example Brazilian tropicalism. Having released several albums of very good quality, the group proves to be especially gifted for cine-concerts. Created in 2004, the one designed from ¡Que Viva Mexico! , Sergei Eisenstein's mythical unfinished film, remains emblematic. All in bright contrasting nuances, never flatly illustrative, their musical accompaniment brings a rich echo to the visual power of the Soviet film maker.
