Charlie Chaplin
Orchestre National d'Île-de-France conducted by Jean Deroyer - Philharmonie de Paris, Salle des concerts - Cité de la musique
Program Info: Short films by Charlie Chaplin (The Tramp Skates, The Tramp Fireman and The Tramp Escapes) Music by Cyrille Aufort
If Charlie Chaplin composed the music for his films himself, it is not forbidden to revisit his classics. Cyrille Aufort illuminated the famous short films L'Évadé , Charlot pompier and Charlot patine (1916-1917) with three original scores.
Silent cinema has a lot to say, and Charlie Chaplin, from his first short films in the 1910s, created the character of the Tramp to make his voice heard: the soft-hearted vagabond will deliver his biting description of the human condition by exhausting all the springs of burlesque, timeless, comic and poetic.
A composer for theatre, television, documentaries and cinema – recently The Virtuous , Journey to the South Pole and Clemenceau, the Force to Love – Cyrille Aufort is the first Frenchman to win a Primetime Emmy Award, for Luc Jacquet's The Emperor. For these three fast-paced short films, he imagined music in perfect alchemy with the images, performed live during the screening.
