Symphonic Hollywood
Orchestre national d'Île-de-France conducted by Bastien Stil - Philharmonie de Paris, Grande salle Pierre Boulez
Program Info: The Orchestre national d'Île-de-France gives film music a special place in its repertoire. With Bastien Stil, multi-instrumentalist and conductor with eclectic tastes, the Ile-de-France band is reviving the heyday of Hollywood.
A wide shot than the one proposed by the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France and the conductor of the Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine, familiar with the symphonic repertoire, jazz and contemporary creation: a century of Hollywood music. The Adventures of Indiana Jones , Pirates of the Caribbean and The Mask of Zorro owe their success to their director and actors as much as to the epic themes and orchestral textures tailor-made by John Williams, Hans Zimmer and James Horner. At the origins of this perfect union between music and cinema, the Austrian Max Steiner, who emigrated to Los Angeles: it is to him that the first talking films owe an omnipresent musical score, symphonic and thematic, inspired by Wagnerian opera as well as the Romantic orchestra.
Program: Erich Wolfgang Korngold - The Adventures of Robin Hood Max Steiner - Gone with the Wind (Continued) Miklós Rózsa - Ben Hur (Suite) James Horner - The Mask of Zorro Hans Zimmer - Pirates of the Caribbean (excerpt) John Williams - The Adventures of Indiana Jones
