The best film music: John Williams en Hans Zimmer
Göttinger Symphonieorchester conducted by Nicholas Milton - de Doelen, Grote Zaal
Program Info: Film music is of all times. Or rather, cinematic music is of all times. And even better: music that appeals to the imagination is of all times. That's what the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra conducted by Nicholas Milton lets you hear. Film music has become a genre in its own right over the past hundred years. Two composers stand out, and they are the American John Willams (1932) and the German Hans Zimmer (1957). Their immortal music plays the leading role this evening. You'll hear the award-winning music of Jurassic Park, the Da Vinci Code, Gladiator, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and E.T.
We can say with certainty that without music, half of the experience of a film is lost. Film music supports the action on the big screen. She underlines the tension, the romance, the enthusiasm and the sadness, she nestles in your head and if she is very good, she takes on a life of her own. Take the music of the Harry Potter films: you only have to hear the first five notes and you know it: the magical atmosphere of Hogwarts. You only have to hear the beginning of the Jurassic Park theme and you suspect danger. But also, a few bars further: everything will be fine!
On the repertoire: Hans Zimmer - Chevaliers de Sangreal from The Da Vinci Code Hans Zimmer - Theme from Gladiator
John Williams - Indiana Jones John Williams - Raiders March from Raiders of the Lost Ark John Williams - Theme from Jurassic Park John Williams - Flying Theme from E.T.
