Program Info: Chief conductor Marc Albrecht is particularly familiar with the work of Johannes Brahms. He convincingly demonstrated this during a previous collaboration with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. This time, Brahms' First Symphony is on the programme. While composing, Brahms experienced enormous pressure to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor Ludwig van Beethoven. Brahms wrote a stunning and poignant orchestral piece that became a real crowd favourite. The Violin Concerto by Erich Wolfgang Korngold is also one of the top works in the repertoire. The nostalgic concerto is performed by the young Swedish violinist Daniel Lozakovich, a rising star in the firmament. Top musicians at work in their beloved repertoire: this is a concert to look forward to with great anticipation.
