Experience the visionary martial arts masterpiece "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" by director Ang Lee for the first time in the concert hall of the KKL Luzern. The spectacular, colorful images on the big screen take you back to ancient China, enhanced by Tan Dun's Oscar-winning score, played live by the City Light Symphony Orchestra and principal cellist Alexandre Castro-Balbi.
Set against the visually stunning backdrop of ancient China, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" tells the story of the legendary master warrior Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-Fat) and his secret love Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh), to whom he has entrusted the safekeeping of the mythical sword "Green Destiny". But Jen Yu (Zhang Ziyi), the ambitious daughter of a rich and powerful governor and a gifted martial arts master herself, steals the "Green Destiny"
This sets in motion events that forever change the fate of all those who have sworn to protect the sword and traditions of the legendary Wudang community.
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", one of the most exciting martial arts spectacles, took the cinema screens by storm in 2000 with its intoxicating images and powerful, dramatic love story. For the first time ever, you can experience the entire Oscar-winning film music by composer Tan Dun live for the film at the KKL Lucerne, with Far Eastern timbres just as beguiling as the poignant love theme, led by the cello playing of Alexandre Castro-Balbi.
Film Concerts Live! In collaboration with Sony Pictures Classics, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" presents one of the most influential films of all time, nominated for 10 Oscars, as an in-concert experience. The award-winning music of the renowned composer Tan Dun will be played live and precisely by the City Light Symphony Orchestra for the HD presentation of this masterpiece.
