Program Info: Surround sound is one of the most fascinating recent developments in contemporary film music. During AlterFMF, we will experience it live by immersing ourselves in the world of the Academy Award winner’s imagination! Volker Bertelmann aka Hauschka invites the audience to take place at the heart of the musical narrative.
This is a project we have wanted to bring to life for a long time. German composer and pianist Volker Bertelmann, who won the Academy Award for his score to All Quiet on the Western Front, has repeatedly proven what an unconventional artist he is. On festival Friday, the Łaźnia Nowa Theatre in Nowa Huta will turn into a fascinating sound space.
The composer himself will play a prepared piano, the sound of which will be combined with electronics. With loudspeakers placed around and above the audience, the sound will start to surround us from all sides and – using dedicated software – it will create an intense impression of movement.
AlterFMF is redefining the film music concert by presenting a self-contained, immersive narrative. The event will be an opportunity to listen to the compositions from the Hauschka’s latest album Philanthropy.
