Maleficent, Fantastic Beasts, The Hunger Games and Pretty Woman – these are just a few of the many high-profile films that feature James Newton Howard’s magical music. One of Hollywood’s most sought-after composers will join FMF for the first time to conduct the orchestra in person!
James Newton Howard is undoubtedly one of the most important figures in contemporary film music. The Los Angeles-born composer, conductor and pianist has been working with major film studios since the 1980s. Over the course of his impressive career, he has won many prestigious accolades, including an Emmy and Grammy awards, and has been nominated for an Academy Award nine times!
He has composed unique soundtracks for numerous blockbusters, including Pretty Woman, Fantastic Beasts, Maleficent, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Blood Diamond, King Kong, Peter Pan and The Hunger Games. His long-standing collaboration with director M. Night Shyamalan, which has included The Sixth Sense, Signs and The Village, is particularly noteworthy.
The Kraków concert will showcase the multifaceted character of his scores. It will not, however, be the usual compilation of the greatest hits and well-known themes. With the suites prepared with the FMF audience in mind, the composer will also present themes from his lesser-known films, all while leading the orchestra himself and serving as host and narrator. This is a unique opportunity to explore James Newton Howard sharing behind-the-scenes anecdotes from the Dream Factory.
