Limelight 2026
St. Andrew’s School (Secondary) Concert Band - Esplanade Concert Hall

Program Info:
Highlighting the expressive range and storytelling power of the concert band, the programme brings together a cornerstone repertoire with contemporary colour, solo virtuosity, light-hearted charm, and cinematic favourites.

Holst’s Second Suite in F represents the foundations of the concert band tradition with its timeless folk melodies and brilliant writing. Bert Appermont’s Noah’s Ark adds rich modern textures and vivid, cinematic storytelling, while Gary Kuo’s Wingspan places the horn in the spotlight with a lyrical, soaring solo. Shifting from soaring lyricism to light-hearted delight, Leroy Anderson’s Clarinet Candy brings sparkle, wit, and playful energy to the stage.

Music from the screen completes the programme, with the atmospheric beauty of Joe Hisaishi’s Princess Mononoke and the bold, adventurous themes from John Powell’s How to Train Your Dragon, rounding off a concert that celebrates the versatility and colour of the concert band.
