Program Info: On Friday, October 2, 2026, composer and conductor Joe Hisaishi will lead a selection from his acclaimed film score!
Among them the music he made for Studio Ghibli's magical films, such as Spirited Away, Ponyo and Howl's Moving Castle by legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazake, complete with film clips on the big screen. In addition, Joe Hisaishi conducts a selection of his music for top director Takeshi Kitano's acclaimed films, such as Hana-bi (Fireworks) and Kids Return, and many more. This concert offers a rare opportunity to see and hear Joe Hisaishi at work as a conductor and pianist. The fact that Hisaishi himself is conducting the Concertgebouw Orchestra is already a first, it also offers a unique opportunity to hear his enchanting film music live with footage from Studio Ghibli.
