Program Info: Łódź — a city of film and outstanding filmmakers — has been an important place on the map of Polish cinematography for decades. This unique concert is dedicated to film music created for films made in Łódź or related to it, which have made a permanent mark in the history of Polish cinema.
The programme includes waltzes, suites and themes known from films and series by Wojciech Kilar (1932-2013), Piotr Marczewski (1938-2022), Piotr Hertel (1936-2010) and Zdzisław Szostak (1930-2019) — artists who were able to combine drama and subtle lyricism with the distinct atmosphere of the era and the emotions of the characters. We will hear music from the works of such directors as Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy Hoffman and Janusz Majewski, evoking both lyrical and more monumental sounds of Polish cinema.
The concert is an opportunity to meet music, which, although created with the image in mind, delights with its richness of mood and power of expression also off-screen.
