Tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto
Benyamin Nuss, piano - Salle Gaveau

Program Info:
A plural composer, a committed and versatile artist, a humanist and pioneer in electronic music, a pianist and orchestrator of the first order, Ryuichi Sakamoto has marked by his sensitivity, offering some of the most beautiful film soundtracks of our time, but also a unique creativity, refusing commercial projects and the easy way.

Coming from the classical and electronic worlds, a graduate of an art school and a distinguished pianist, Ryuichi Sakamoto, who passed away in 2023, leaves behind him a multitude of works marking the world of music, but also of cinema. The Last Emperor and Little Buddha by Bernardo Bertolucci, Taboo and Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence by Nagisa Oshima, High Heels by Pedro Almodóvar, The Revenant by Alejandro González Iñárritu and Snake Eyes by Brian De Palma, resonate like so many timeless melodies in the hearts of cinephiles. The recital Hommage à Ryuichi Sakamoto is performed, with official scores, by Benyamin Nuss, a pianist dubbed by many composers in Japan, his adopted country: Masashi Hamauzu, Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Mitsuda and Yoko Kanno. Ryuichi Sakamoto's music must not just be interpreted: it must be understood, assimilated, transcribed in accordance with the composer's philosophical and musical thoughts. This journey into the minimalist worlds and colors of Ryuichi Sakamoto will allow you to revisit the most beautiful interpretation of his greatest compositions.
