Interstellar – Live
City Light Symphony Orchestra & Roger Sayer, organ conducted by Matt Dunkley - KKL Luzern

Program Info:
Hans Zimmer - interstellar

After acclaimed performances at the beginning of December, Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning science fiction epic "Interstellar – Live" will return to the KKL Luzern in 2026. While the film shines on the big screen, the City Light Symphony Orchestra and renowned organist Roger Sayer play the breathtaking film music by Hans Zimmer live.

Our time on earth is coming to an end. A team of researchers undertakes the most important mission in human history: a journey beyond our galaxy to find out if humanity has a future under the stars.

Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey plays the former pilot and current farmer Cooper, who has to leave his family behind on the increasingly hostile Earth in order to lead an expedition beyond our galaxy. Other roles include Anne Hathaway, Sir Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain and Casey Affleck.

"Interstellar" was hailed by the press as "overwhelming, captivating, bold and beautiful" and was named one of the ten best films of 2014 by Rolling Stone magazine. The film received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Film Score.

Now experience the Oscar-nominated film score by Hans Zimmer – which he himself described as the best work of his career so far – performed live by Roger Sayer and the City Light Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Matt Dunkley.

Roger Sayer was personally selected by Hans Zimmer in 2014 to record the organ solos of the original soundtrack of "Interstellar" at the legendary Temple Church in London. Now he plays on the majestic Goll organ of the KKL Lucerne with its 4,387 pipes.
