Together with Stormen Concert Hall and Akt Produksjon, we welcome you to a magnificent concert show, with a red carpet, main actors, exhibition and surprises.
Heroin City is shown on the big screen, while the Arctic Philharmonic and ELSK perform the film music live – just as it was created for the film. An unparalleled audiovisual experience, where documentary and drama merge with the music.
In the early 90s, train carriages full of dried opium poppies roll into Bodø Railway Station. Someone had discovered that you could make opium tea from the poppies from the local flower shop.
After a few years, sales over the counter stop, when a group of young men find a catalogue in Narvik and import trainloads of poppies into Bodø. The phenomenon is spreading like wildfire, also to young people with no drug experience.
The police have no legal authority to stop them. After several years, sales stop in '96. In the vacuum that arises, heroin enters the market in earnest. The price in the north was sky-high, 8-9000 grams.
With the addiction and crime that followed, this would change many lives forever, and characterize the city to this day.
Akt Produksjon, Rein Film, Stormen Concert Hall, the Church City Mission Nordland, the Arctic Philharmonic, and ELSK have captured a completely unique piece of Norwegian contemporary history.
Heroin City is a drama documentary that combines contemporary witnesses' stories, film adaptations and film music for the entire emotional register.
