Program Info: "Without John Williams, bicycles don't really fly, neither do brooms in Quidditch matches, nor do men in red cloaks. There is no 'power', dinosaurs don't walk the earth, we don't marvel, we don't cry, we don't believe" – Steven Spielberg said this about what is probably the greatest film music composer of our time, John Williams. Movie scores from his pen can be heard regularly in the MAGIC OF MOVIE series, or rather experienced, because film music from well-known cinema blockbusters always appeals to more senses than just the ears, just as Spielberg says.
In the 18th edition of our film music series, classics of screen sound will be on the program, as well as soundtracks from Hollywood productions of recent years and decades. The Deutsche Philharmonie Merck, and thus probably the most experienced orchestra in the region when it comes to film music, is conducted by Kiril Stankow, First Kapellmeister at the Staatstheater Kassel and a proven connoisseur of the musical art of cinema, who also conducts the "Film in Concert" programs at his house.
