Join the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra for an all-American celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Under the baton of Maestro Carl St.Clair, the program opens with the beloved theme from E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial composed by the legendary John Williams, the undisputed master of Hollywood film music. This is followed by Williams’s dazzling Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra featuring Tom Hooten, the acclaimed principal trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The second half explores the rich variety of American music with Bernstein’s rousing Slava!, Barber’s deeply moving Adagio for Strings, selections by the great jazz pianist Duke Ellington, and concludes with Gershwin’s exuberant An American in Paris.
