In this program, which recovers the memory of two marginalized figures in the history of music, Osesp has the collaboration of the Spanish conductor Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas. Korngold moved to the U.S. in the 1930s, due to the Nazi persecution of Jews. One of the fathers of the Hollywood orchestral sound, his success in cinema, however, damaged his reputation as a serious composer, only recently being widely recognized. In Theme and Variations , Korngold creates rapid changes of atmosphere through orchestration, fundamental in the universe of soundtracks. This is also true of the Violin Concerto , performed by South Korean violinist Inmo Yang. The second part of the concert features Symphony No. 4 , the last work of the genre written by one of the greatest symphonists of the twentieth century: Grazyna Bacewicz. A central name in Polish music during her lifetime, the composer was forgotten in the following decades. Fortunately, his music has been played more and more in recent years.
