American composer, pianist and arranger Burt Bacharach was one of the most influential and successful authors of popular music of the 20th century. He was a pioneer who brought the sophistication of jazz and classical music to pop, and his songs still appeal to millions of listeners around the world. He began his career as an arranger and accompanying pianist for the then-upcoming singing icon Marlene Dietrich. His hits were interpreted by the most famous American singers of the 70s, including Dionne Warwick and Tom Jones. His most successful collaboration was with lyricist Hal David - together they created dozens of hits that became pop classics. You can listen to a selection of the best performed by great guests and our orchestra.
