Seasonal concert
Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Matthew Halls - Tampere Hall, Main Auditorium
Program Info: Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra Matthew Halls , conductor Paul Huang , violin
Echoes of history, dreams, and cinematic glamour resonate through the concert’s music. John Adams’s hit piece The Chairman Dances whisks the listener onto an absurd dance floor, where Mao and Nixon meet in a surreal foxtrot. Korngold’s cinematic Violin Concerto brings the golden age of Hollywood to the stage – composed by a two-time Oscar winner who later turned to concert music. The evening culminates in Dvořák’s beloved Symphony No. 9, New World, in which the European composer interprets the American landscape – the whisper of the prairies, the songs of Indigenous peoples, and the pulse of great cities – in an unforgettable way.
The concert will feature music by composers Adams, Korngold and Dvořák.
John Adams: The Chairman Dances Erich Wolfgang Korngold: Violin concerto, the concerto has themes from the scores for the movies ANOTHER DAWN (1937), ANTHONY ADVERSE (1936) & THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER (1937) Antonin Dvořák: Symphony No. 9, “From the New World”
