Jussen Brothers play Poulenc
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra conducted by Nodoka Okisawa - Hamer Hall
Program Info: Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Nodoka Okisawa, conductor Lucas Jussen, piano Arthur Jussen, piano
Be swept into the wild and unpredictable momentum of Toru Takemitsu’s Three Film Scores on our truly unique concert program of French and Japanese works. The films in question are varied in story and style, but you can expect a mix of New York-style jazz with a romantic feel. And Birds Are Still… is a contemplative work from Takashi Yoshimatsu that contrasts the lightness of nature with the weight of the human experience.
Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos is an edge-of-your-seat work. You’ll feel the assertive and competitive spirit of this fast-paced music under two sets of hands: Lucas Jussen and Arthur Jussen. They’re brothers who have both made it to the top of their game as expert pianists – what could possibly go wrong? Not much, actually. Come and hear them play before the concert concludes with Poulenc’s delightful Sinfonietta.
