Rendezvous with the Pink Panther
Antje Rietz and Pocket Big Band - Scharoun Theater Wolfsburg

Program Info:
Rendezvous with the Pink Panther - Concert with Henry Mancini's world successes

The name Henry Mancini is synonymous with legendary film music. The theme tune to "The Pink Panther" now enjoys cult status, and the song "Moon River" to the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's", written especially for Audrey Hepburn, is considered part of the Great American Songbook.

The singer and actress Antje Rietz, who was honoured with the Audience Award at the Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart for her interpretation of the leading role in "Victor / Victoria", dedicates herself together with her "Pocket Big Band" in the concert programme "Rendezvous with the Pink Panther" to the brilliant composer, musician and person Henry Mancini, who worked for Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller in the swing era and with his award-winning melodies (including "Peter Gunn" and "Days of Wine and Roses").

Some of the ravishing lyrics to Mancini's significant melodies such as "Too Little Time" (Glenn Miller Story) or "Charade" were translated into German by Antje Rietz by the Berlin author and director Axel Weidemann. In German translation (Stefan Huber), retro-stylish revue numbers such as "Le Jazz Hot" or "You and Me" from the film and stage work "Victor / Victoria", music by Henry Mancini, decorate this extraordinary concert evening.
