All John Williams
NHK Symphony Orchestra conducted by Keitaro Harada - Bunkamura Orchard Hall
Program Info: Listen to the "classical music" that colors masterpieces with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, which has been gathering only the most skilled musicians through the succession of generations while faithfully inheriting the traditions of the long-established orchestra. In fact, music has been an essential part of "film" since the dawn of the silent film era. Famous classical music was often played alongside the film in order to evoke a common image among many audience members. Also, since silent films were pantomimes, the relationship between music and images was similar to that of ballet, and in the early days of talkies, when sound began to be synchronized, they would not have been able to achieve explosive popularity without the musical element that originated from opera. In other words, ballet and opera are the direct ancestors of film music! It is no coincidence that John Williams, now 93 years old, who has been creating film music beloved by people all over the world for over half a century, said that he "had to create a joyous ballet" to go with the action scenes of the CG dinosaurs in "Jurassic Park." That is how inseparable the relationship between classical music and film is. So, let's use film as an entry point to listen to classical music! The more you know classical music, the more you will appreciate the film itself.
