John Williams - Concert For Tuba And Orchestra
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Requiem in D minor, K. 626

The extremely dramatic circumstances surrounding the creation of Mozart's very last work have only intensified the fascination of this luminous gem in the repertoire. Mozart lay on the deathbed and fought against time to complete his commissioning work for a mysterious Count who wanted to produce the work as his own, and you can hardly understand the quality of what he managed to get scribbled down in the last weeks of his everything for short lives.

Come hear 300 high school students make Mozart's swan song live with the Olympics at a concert that also features live geniuses: John Williams, immortalized for his iconic film music for, among other things. Here, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones, offer something as rare as a tube concert, and our own virtuoso tuba, Carl Boye Hansen, is of course the centerpiece. American music's perhaps biggest live star, Philip Glass, delighted audiences last season with his double cello and violin concerto. Here stands his warmly swinging Harmonium Mountain side by side with Williams' heartbreaking theme to Schindler's List.
