As in all of Iñárritu's films, in BIRDMAN (2014) he uses the film's characters to take a profound look at human existence: a virtuoso high-wire act between comedy and pathos, illusion and reality, which allows for many interpretations.

Star drummer Antonio Sánchez composed a soundtrack of purist solo jazz percussion and received a Grammy for it.
