A bad boy from the city has come to the countryside to get away from it all. There, he meets a sprightly young girl with rural ways, Tillie. He seduces her and persuades her to run away with him, not without stealing her father's savings...
In his writings, Louis Delluc never ceased to pay homage to the Keystone slapstick comedies. The studio was then headed by the famous Mack Sennett. It was the latter who directed Tillie's Punctured Romance , considered the first full-length comedy film in the history of cinema. Marie Dressler reprised the first role she had successfully created on the Broadway stage in 1910. But it was a certain Charlie Chaplin, here in a supporting role against type, who literally stole the show. Gags galore, incredible situations and already a touch of Monsieur Verdoux .
