It is under the nickname "Zigoto" that the excellent American comedian Larry Semon is known in France. [...] Before making films, Larry Semon had a certain reputation as a caricaturist of sports scenes. [...] It was around 1912 that he wanted to try his luck in the cinema. His beginnings were long and painful, and all his friends invited him to take up his pencils again, because his drawings had been quite rightfully popular. Larry Semon persisted, and he became the comic type who, in a star, places himself on the same level as Harold Lloyd and Max Linder, and who, one day perhaps, will equal Charlie Chaplin. Zigoto in the Careers, Zigoto the Theater Boy, Zigoto and the Apaches, are the last films we saw of his. Let's just say that they achieved considerable and deserved success.
