Festival du Cinéma muet d'Anères: A Cinematic Journey
Tristan Bres & Tristan Bres, keyboards - Festival venue
Program Info: A cathode ray musical experience
Composer and “cathode ray tube artist” Tristan Bres invites you on a journey into the world of sound and visual synthesis. From drawing on an oscilloscope to video synthesis, this experimental “cine-concert” transports the (television) viewer on an immersive journey. The music, ranging from electronic to film music, including psychedelic phases, directly influences the different visual tableaux depending on the notes played by the musicians. A creation based on the use of cathode ray tubes, diverted from their primary function to make them unique objects of artistic expression. On stage, Tristan Bres is surrounded by analog machines, notably modular synthesizers. This musician, a bassist by training, became a composer (films, documentaries, contemporary dance) before becoming interested in sound and visual synthesis. He then began drawing on old analog oscilloscopes controlled by the frequencies of his modular synthesizer. These first experiments will constitute the starting point of this creation on which he will work for five years.
