Ennio Morricone is rightly considered one of the world’s greatest composers of film music. His compositions cover a broad spectrum of contrasting musical styles, something that has attracted the directors of cult films of a wide range of genres. As well as film music, his oeuvre includes numerous symphonic works and compositions for theatre and radio. Wielding the conductor’s baton at this concert of Morricone’s film music will be the composer’s second son, Andrea Morricone, a versatile composer in his own right who collaborated with his father on several award-winning scores. The RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra will be joined for the occasion by the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra, which has been performing Morricone’s music, both in films and in live concert performances, ever since its foundation in 1993. Soprano Vittoriana De Amicis, whose accolades include third prize at the Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition (Opera Section) in San Marino, has performed in opera houses and concert halls around the world. After training as a pianist, Luigi Mattacchione turned to jazz performance and the study of the harmonica. Today he is recognised as one of the first Italian musicians to achieve renown as a formally trained harmonica player. Vincenzo Bolognese graduated in violin and chamber music from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. As well as being a regular concert performer, he is an active musicologist, with a focus on critical editions of the works of Niccolò Paganini and Ottorino Respighi.
