Cannes Latino!
Orchestre National de Cannes conducted by Benjamin Levy - Palais des Festivals et des Congrès,Grand auditorium Louis Lumière
Program Info: Who has never dreamed of celebrating the New Year in the tropics?
Benjamin Levy invites us to embark on this journey, in a whirlwind of rhythms and colors under the sign of Latin American dances. From Cuban Overture George Gershwin's to the syncopated bursts of Leonard Bernstein's Mambo , each piece celebrates the energy of movement and the richness of popular traditions. Arturo Márquez's Danzón No. 2 and Conga del Fuego Nuevo pay homage to Mexican rhythms, while Ginastera and Revueltas capture the soul of Argentine and Mayan lands. The bewitching Tico-Tico no Fubá and the Dança brasileira make Brazil vibrate, while Le Carnaval de Saint-Pierre Cyrille Lehn's and the arrangement of Vai lavar a cara galopin add a touch of mystery to this incandescent program where the dance, by turns sensual, exalted and intoxicating, becomes the common thread of an effervescent musical journey.
