Since the beginning of mankind, most of the music with lyrics has been about love. In fact, if we look closely, when it comes to non-sacred songs, love is almost always present in the songs in one way or another, even if often in a figurative sense. But how is love expressed in instrumental music? If not in the lyrics, then what? And why do we agree that certain melodies and sounds are clearly related to love? The Danubia Orchestra's concert, in which the instruments become lovers, seeks to answer these questions. Mozart's overture presents love more from the side of intrigue, as in the opera that follows the overture, two men jokingly test the loyalty of their lovers. Liszt's Love Dream was originally a song, it became famous as a piano piece, and many people recognize the love that flares up and persists despite all the storms in music. The story of Romeo and Juliet has inspired many in musical literature. Tchaikovsky wrote a symphonic work that conjures up a real action movie on our imaginary screen. The overture to Russlan and Ludmilla proclaims the triumph of consummated love. Shostakovich's waltz is at once classical music, jazz and a hit, yearning for something or someone with a touch of melancholy. Francis Lai and Henry Mancini's Love Story music is even more melancholy and leads to the work of Rezső Ott, who summarized the history of love songs and love numbers in a single composition. Program
