Bartók & Brabbins
Malmö Symphony Orchestra conducted by Martyn Brabbins - Malmö Live Konserthus
Program Info: We begin the season with a colorful program and at the same time welcome Martyn Brabbins as the Malmö Symphony Orchestra's new chief conductor. And that's not all! Star violinist Bomsori performs Erich Wolfgang Korngold's virtuoso violin concerto, which is based on themes from some of the composer's Hollywood hits. Edward Elgar takes us to London, where there is a drunken party atmosphere around the turn of the century 1900 in the city nicknamed Cockaigne - a utopian land of happiness, and all the orchestra's skilled musicians come forward and act as soloists in Béla Bartók's iconic classic Concerto for Orchestra.
Edward Elgar - Cockaigne Overture, In London Town, op. 40 Erich Wolfgang Korngold: Violin Concerto, op. 35 in D major, the concerto has themes from the scores for the movies ANOTHER DAWN (1937), ANTHONY ADVERSE (1936) & THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER (1937) Béla Bartók - Concerto for Orchestra, Sz. 116, BB 123 (Koussevitzky)
