Stavanger Symphony Orchestra performes James Horner
Stavanger Symphony Orchestra conducted by Torodd Wigum - Stavanger Konserthus
Program Info: Some melodies stick in the heart. James Horner's (1953-2015) music has done just that – in cinemas, in living rooms and in concert halls. From the magnificent tones of Braveheart and Avatar to the intense moments of Aliens and Titanic; his compositions have specialized in amplifying action and arousing emotions.
With ten Oscar nominations and two statuettes for the iconic music for Titanic, Horner was one of Hollywood's most influential film composers.
The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra has a very special connection to Horner. Exactly ten years ago, in the spring of 2015, he himself stood on the podium in Fartein Valen to conduct his own music. Just a month later, he died in a tragic plane crash. In September, we will rediscover his sheet music, and together with conductor Torodd Wigum, we invite you to an evening dedicated to one of the greatest voices in film history.
Welcome back to Horner's universe!
Music from Titanic, Braveheart, Aliens, Avatar, The Rocketeer will be performed!
