Program Info: When darkness descends on the concert hall and the Malmö Symphony Orchestra begins to play, you are invited to an evening where the music from history's most iconic horror films and TV series comes to life again.
You've heard them before, but never like this. Every trembling crescendo, every creeping dissonance. Impossible to defend yourself against. If there is any genre where music is absolutely crucial, it is probably horror. Throughout film history, the leitmotifs of many of the most classic horror films have become as legendary as the films themselves.
In "The Horror", the Malmö Symphony Orchestra performs music from iconic horror films mixed with slightly more obscure horror and chilling gems from both the big screen and the television screen. The emphasis is on cult classics from the 1960s–1980s – such as Poltergeist, The Omen, Carrie, Rosemary's Baby and Halloween. But the concert is also spiced up with newer elements like Squid Game and of course Twin Peaks. It's about horror in a broad sense – from the spooky to the unfathomable.
So sit back in the concert hall and let the music from some of the most iconic horror films in film history emerge from the shadows.
