Experience a concert full of visual and cinematic music conducted by Jaap van Zweden. Leonidas Kavakos is the soloist in Violin Concerto Korngold's – with the beautiful melodies the Austrian composer looked back on his extensive experience as a film composer in Hollywood. An important inspiration for film music composers was Wagner. He tied the beginning and the end of his opera Tristan und Isolde , the story of a fateful love, together into a grand and compelling orchestral work.
After the interval, Respighi's colourful declaration of love to ancient Rome, Pini di Roma , will be performed . Children playing at Villa Borghese, a nocturnal scene with a real nightingale, Roman legions setting out... The Italian composer pulled out all the stops with the orchestra to conjure up the images on your retina. The work has rightly remained popular; we are pleased to bring this wonderful music to the fore with Jaap van Zweden.
Erich Wolfgang Korngold - Violin Concerto, the concerto has themes from the scores for the movies ANOTHER DAWN (1937), ANTHONY ADVERSE (1936) & THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER (1937)
