Film Music Concert
Prague Film Orchestra - MKS Vyškov
Program Info: Famous compositions from the silver screen in an engaging interpretation of a string quintet, piano and percussion instruments.
The Prague Film Orchestra is a symphonic ensemble, founded by conductors Jiří Korynta and Zdeněka Koryntová in 2004, which has specialised in concert performances of film, series, musicals, popular and video game music throughout its existence.
The PFO String Quartet was the first group to separate from the orchestra. Similar to other groups, its birth was facilitated by the opportunity of a social event, when the quartet accompanied the French pianist, singer and composer Franck Sitbon, with whom the PFO had already collaborated in the past. Since then, the quartet has been building its repertoire and almost immediately naturally focused on performing arrangements of film, popular, jazz, classical, but also original compositions composed specifically for it. The leading position was taken by conductor and violist Jiří Korynta. Several members of the PFO took turns in the positions of primum, secundum and cello. The search for a new repertoire also went hand in hand with the enrichment of the group with two more instrumentalists - pianist Tomáš Vahalík, alternated by Radim Linhart, and drummer and percussionist Martin Vinš. Concert productions took the Quartet and Sextet to various locations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It is regularly invited to various occasions such as film premieres, gala evenings, social gatherings, wedding ceremonies and celebrations.
