Program Info:
The very best film music from John Williams, John Barry and many more. Enjoy music from your favorite films, including Pirates of the Caribbean , The Lord of the Rings , Out of Africa and Gladiator .

This Sunday morning the most beautiful film music sounds. Hobbits, orcs and elves, spies, sharks, pirates and gladiators come to life with music by Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, John Williams and many more. The silver screen is nothing without music. But without the silver screen the music is still rock solid.
Film music on Sunday morning

It has become a regular fixture: film music on Sunday mornings. Every season, a Sunday morning is dedicated to film music. Let yourself be carried away to worlds that far exceed everyday life, immerse yourself in the realm of imagination. Sander Teepen leads the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie in the most beautiful film music classics of the past forty years.
John Williams, Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer

John Williams, Howard Shore and Hans Zimmer are three of the mammoths of film music. Williams' music can be heard from the immortal Jaws and the enchanting children's film Hook . When you say Howard Shore, you immediately think of the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy by Peter Jackson, who owes much of his success to Shore's fantastic music in which hobbits, dwarves, elves, wizards and dark creatures from Middle Earth set the tone. For an action film, you call Hans Zimmer. But Gladiator he also provided music for , the epic drama about power, intrigue and revenge in ancient Rome. And of course Pirates of the Caribbean , the film series about Captain Jack Sparrow, the drunken pirate who ends up from one improbable adventure to the next. But don't forget John Barry either: his music for Out of Africa is a timeless classic and his music for the old James Bond films is still the model for the new films.
