14 November 2025 Tucson (Arizona, USA)
Strauss and Britten
Tucson Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alexander Prior - Linda Ronstadt Music Hall
Program Info: Tucson Symphony Orchestra Alexander Prior, conductor Yura Lee, violin & viola
Making her debut with the TSO, Yura Lee solos on not one, but two instruments! In a rare turn, Lee will perform both the Walton Viola Concerto and Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending on violin on a program of contrasts.
While the Walton is lyrical and melancholic highlighting the viola’s darker qualities, the Vaughan Williams’ rapid melodic twists and turns mimic a skylark in flight. Two orchestra classics frame the program: Strauss’s Wagner-influenced tour-de-force Death and Transfiguration explores the journey from life to death and redemption; and Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra is the perfect vehicle to showcase the extraordinary qualities of your TSO musicians.
