Hollywood’s Golden Age
Capella Edina - Usher Hall
This concert has been canceled.
Program Info: Join for an evening of music from Hollywood’s Golden Age and a celebration of the glamour and magic of classical cinema. The concert will feature music from films such as The Wizard of Oz, An American in Paris, Singin’ in the Rain, and Sunset Boulevard.
No film can survive without music! Composers like George Gershwin, Bernard Hermann, and Max Steiner have had a long-lasting impact on today’s films through the musical legacies they created. In this celebration of their music, we will go back in time to the 1920s through to the 1960s and give everybody the opportunity to revel in the romantic and exuberant streets of Paris, delight in the most whimsical melodies, indulge in the most dramatic and haunting scenes, and tap your feet to joyous jazz-rhythms.
This concert will bring the lush melodies and splendour of Hollywood’s musical heyday to life!
