Program Info: Dziga Vertov's film from 1929 is a documentary about himself, a film about a man with a camera among people on the streets of Russia.
There is no action, only an eye that sees what is happening, but at a high pace and in an exceptionally lively sequence of scenes and clips. The film was innovative with its many new editing techniques. We also see the man filming, even his camera and tripod acting as his own person. This film also provides a unique, unfiltered look at people's daily lives nearly 100 years ago.
Nils Henrik Asheim improvises new music for the film with the help of the organ and some computer control as well.
